This summer I worked for my grandfather's engineering construction company, with the goal of gaining construction experience from the ground up. This company served many industrial customers, some of which were Tyson Foods, Cargill, and Red's Burritos.
This facility underwent a near total renovation, to equip it for a food safe standards. I helped install the insulated wall panels, roof panels, and pour the new concrete floor. During this, I operated telehandlers, forklifts, skid steers. I also became proficient with reading drawings, and my biggest takeaway was the importance of constant awareness to ensure safety.
Here, we erected the structural steel for an expansion to a facility.
I learned about the added procedures of working with a client and the importance of client satisfaction.
This is part of a revised structural plan of an industrial basement retaining wall I drafted using AutoCAD.
Drawings like these are common in construction, and must be easy to understand in the field.
